Wilma P. Gregory

Wilma Pauline Gregory, a lifelong resident of Otsego, MI died peacefully in her home on the 20th of November 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on October 28, 1928, the daughter of Clarence and Sarah (Gearhart) Wollenhaupt. Wilma married the love of her life, Donald Gregory, on March 22, 1947. Together they raised five children. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Don on May 20th 1997 and her son Bill on December 5th, 2006. Her spirit is carried on by her two sisters Mary Drainer and Sally Hendrixson, her four children Terry Watson and Ron Everitt, Clarence “Greg” and Joan Gregory, Dawn and David Nelson, Deb and Ralf Kosowicz. Eight grandchildren Tony (Shannon) Randall, Nicole Gregory Sweeney, Cody(Danna) Gregory, Stacey Taplin, Jamie Nelson, Kristina (Cheyenne) Abnet, Tyler Esper, Brett Gregory and 12 great grandchildren. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Wilma during her 90 years. She taught anyone who wanted to learn how to bake her famous pies, make freezer corn, jams, jellies and sweets unimaginable. Give to every charity that asks. Choose to believe the best about what they do with your money, no matter what your children say. She never had it in her to say no to anyone in need. She will be missed terribly by all those who knew and loved her.

Cremation has taken place according to her wishes. Friends may greet her family on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 10am until the time of the funeral at 11am at Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, MI, with Celebrant Bill Rose officiating . Burial of ashes will follow at Mt. Home Cemetery, Otsego, MI.

Terry, Greg, Dawn & Deb & families, I’m so sorry to hear of your moms passing. I adored her! She was one of a kind and one of the hardest working women I had the pleasure of knowing. I’ll always remember her being one of our neighborhood “Mom’s” who made us all feel special. I pray for peace for you all. RIP dear Wilma until we meet again.

Wilma was dearly loved by the Esper family; we were firsthand observers of this statement: “She never had it in her to say no to anyone in need.” The unconditional love she shared with Renee’ and Tyler – and all of us – will forever be treasured. Her sweet spirit, bright smile and laughter will be remembered with fondness. Our sympathies and prayers go out to the Gregory family, and we are thankful that she is at peace and with her Savior now.

Love,

Cheryl (Esper) Balcom

Dear Family of Wilma,

Tim and I had the pleasure of working with Wilma at the Otsego Elks! She was the most hardest worker we have ever met! She always had a smile for everyone and she would do anything you asked her to do! We loved her so much! Her laugh was contagious, she will be missed; our memories of her will remain in our hearts forever! Please know that Wilma is now a special Angel in Heaven looking over you!

My memories of Wilma are when we worked together for many years at Tru-Heat. she was a hard working lady for sure. My memories are of her making cakes for birthdays and when I told her I just wanted strawberry shortcake, she did that also, bringing in a huge bowl of strawberries, enough for all!! She will be missed by many.

Greg and Joan,

Just saw that your mom had passed. We are never ready to let them go but that time comes for all of at some point. Glad to read that she went peacefully and was able to be in her own home. We remember Wilma as a very energetic hard working lady. We had some nice conversations with her while she worked at the Cooper Cafe. She was always busy making those pies for the restaurant. She sure had a lot of energy and was friendly to everyone. She will be missed by all. May God grant you peace and comfort during this time of loss.

Greg, Deb. Dawn, Terry, And families, Dan and I want to extend our deepest and most sincere sympathy of the passing of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Wilma was a big person with one of the biggest, kindest hearts that I know. Whenever I was in need of a birthday cake after Dawn was unable to to make them for me because she had moved away Wilma was more than happy to help me out. Enjoyed her fresh baked pies at the restaurant. She was always so friendly and always made a point to come and talk to us whenever she saw us.I know that there will be a void in all of your lives for a long time. But she is in no pain and has been reunited with all of her loved ones that have passed. May she R.I.P.

Greg, Debbie, Dawn and Terry, So very sorry to hear the passing of your mother. Dan and I want to extend our deepest and most sincere sympathy to all of you and your families. Wilma was such a loving, caring and giving person. And was always there for someone in need. She always went out of her way if she saw you in a store or on the street to come over out of her way to say hi, how are you and how is your family doing. I can recall several times when I was in need of one of my grand kids birthday cakes and Dawn had other obligations to fulfill and couldn’t get to making my cakes. Wilma would step in and make beautiful cakes for me when I needed them. She made the most wonderful delicious pies. (Made me think of my own mothers homemade from scratch pies) and we sure did enjoy every bite. I know how valuable her life was to each and everyone that knew her. May she Rest In Peace from now until Eternity. Sandy and Dan
