William E. Sutton

William Edward Sutton, affectionately known as Bill, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025, at Kauhale in Otsego, surrounded by his loving family.

 He was born in Comstock on June 24, 1931, the son of Albert and Gertrude (Hartman) Sutton. For 40 years Bill worked at James River until his retirement in 1993. 

Bill liked being outdoors and working in his garden. He enjoyed driving his train and was a John Deere tractor enthusiast. Most of all Bill loved spending time with his family. On February 24, 1950, in Plainwell, he married Peggy Gjers who passed away in 2017. 

Surviving are his children, Loretta (Gary) Stice of Kalamazoo, Patricia Blanchard of Texas and William (Shirley) Sutton of Plainwell; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Don Sutton of Delton along with several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Molly; son-in-law, Tim Blanchard and his 11 siblings. 

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. 

A memorial service will be held at a later time.
