William “Sam” Simpson
William Samuel “Sam” Simpson passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015.
Sam was born February 7, 1947 the most beloved son of Florence and Ray Simpson. Sam was always interested in everything and did everything well. He played the lead in Cheaper by the Dozen in high school and built rockets after school, one of the first going astray through the basement window which was all repaired before his mother came home.
He graduated from Otsego High School with honors and attended Michigan State University where he met his wife of 43 years, Elaine K. Sheehan. He then attended Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, OR, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1981.
After returning to his home town of Otsego he was employed by Old Kent Bank as a commercial loan documentation officer and later specialized in wills and trusts and banking regulations. He served on the Otsego City Commission and helped establish the Otsego Area Historical Society.
Sam also had a lifelong interest in amateur radio, his call sign is KC8OZG. His passions were cooking, the Upper Peninsula and animal welfare.
In accordance with Sam’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

You are at the heart of so many prayers right now. I graduated with Sam in 65. I have always remembered Sam as my partner in Cheaper by the Dozen. I played the part of his wife. We also attended MSU together and I remember him fondly. I had hoped he might attend our 50th class reunion. I am so sorry to learn of Sam’s passing. He was a brilliant classmate and fun in chemistry and physics classes. I think we were all in awe of Sam, and weren’t surprised to learn he’d become an attorney. I spoke with him in February about our coming class reunion and hoped to catch up after all these years. HOW he will be missed

I was saddened to hear of Sam’s passing. I met Sam in the first grade and we became best of friends all through school, I spent many days after school over at Sam’s home on East Allegan Streeet. He was gifted student and will be missed

I have worked for Sam for many years doing his remodeling projects and what ever he needed. I always enjoyed his company. I am sorry to see him pass.

I’ve only known Sam for 6mths and in those months I learned what an amazing ,smart,caring person he was. We had many fun times from debates to teaching each other how to cook different styles & dishes. Mostly him & Elaine teaching me!! It was a privledge to work for both of you and Sam will always have a special place in my heart. My prayers are with you, hope we can stay in touch., and I owe you some homemade cinnamon rolls! 🙂

Roger and I are very sorry to hear of Sam’s passing. We will always remember our discussions on the front porch of the Thompson cabin and all the delicious Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners we enjoyed with you both. We will certainly miss him.

Elaine and Family: We were saddened to hear of Sam’s passing. We both graduated from OHS with Sam. If you had a class with him, it was quite obvious that he would excell in life. He was friendly, fun to be around and always polite and kind. We, too, were hoping to see him at our 50th class reunion. May these memories of Sam, as well as the many memories you cherish, help you through this difficult time. Rest in peace, Sam!

William and I are very sad indeed about the passing of our friend and neighbor Sam Simpson. He was such a very special man and a real fine human being. We will miss his intellect and excellent positive attitude. His consummate love of animals and “the Great Outdoors” was always appreciated by both of us.
Elaine and Sam are such good neighbors. It is such a pleasure to live right next door! We will always be there for you Elaine.

we are greatly saddened o hear of sam’s passing. he was a blast to chat with on the radio. i remember have dinner with him and eline up north. we had such great evenings.he also interductd me to porto and many great dishes.

It is with great sorrow we learned of Sams passing. I will miss our long conversations over various interests while the dinner he was preparing continued cooking.
