William H. ‘Bill’ Berner of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in Kalamazoo. Mr. Berner was born April 21, 1933 in Mishawaka, IN to Hilary and Mary Catherine (Terbush) Berner.
For 37 years he was employed with Durametallic (now FloServe), retiring in 1998, and had also farmed part-time. In his leisure time he enjoyed tractor shows, his John Deere tractors, his Dodge 2500 truck and reading.
On February 25, 1956 in Otsego he married Geraldine Boerman, who survives. Also surviving are a son and a daughter, Thomas (Dawn) Berner of Otsego and Marcia (Bill) Sorensen of Byron Center; four grandchildren, John Berner, Jennie Wierckz, Chelsea Johnson and Andrew Sorensen; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Philip (Joyce) Berner of Otsego and Fred (Brenda) Berner of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosemary Anson and Mary Catherine Folkert; a brother, Jerry Berner; and a grandson, Dale Knobloch.
Friends may visit with Bill’s family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the
Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego
, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, Pastor Tony Shumaker officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego.
Contributions in memory of Bill may be made to the Trowbridge United Methodist Church.

I am very sorry for your loss.
Bill was a great guy to work with, and I feel fortunate that I had a chance to work with him as long as I did.
He would listen to me and would give me good and honest advice when I needed it. Thank you Bill.

Bill was my father in law for 10 yrs and i have many great memories of him he was a wonderful man.My favorite memory is going to Geri and Bills for a wonderful dinner then bill getting his cup of coffee and going to his chair to watch tv.Well it didnt take long for him to be slepping in his chair with his coffee cup in his hand still full of coffee and never spilling a drop.
