, the son of Andrew and
Selma
(
Anderson
) Sandahl. He loved the out-of-doors, deer hunting, bass fishing, watching football, basketball and baseball. He was a radio operator in the Navy during WWII, stationed in
Alaska
searching for enemy submarines. Wilfred went through Electral Journeymen’s School in
Muskegon
. He helped build and maintain the nuclear power plant at
Palisades
and was the electrical foreman, and he was an electrician for IBEW Union 131, where he got the nickname “
Sandy
”. On
October 5, 1947
in
Grand Rapids
, he married the former Marian Dunfield who survives. Also surviving are 6 children; Jim (Gail) Sandahl of Allegan, Sue (Richard) Andrews of WinterHaven, FL, Charles (Trinka) Sandahl of Houston, TX, Joe Sandahl, Ed Sandahl, both of Allegan, Rich Sandahl of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren, Kathy, James, Todd, Julie, Sarah, Christopher, Justin and Shawn; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Hildred Sandahl of Plainwell. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Walter, Lawrence and Elmer. Friends may meet with the family Monday from
10:00 AM
until the service time of
11:00 AM
at the
Winkel Funeral Home in O
tsego
,
MI with
Pastor Rodney Hill officiating. Military graveside services will he conducted by VFW Post #3030 at Sheep of Good Shepherd Lutheran Cemetery, Watson Twp.
