Vurl Snyder

Mr. Vurl Snyder of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in Allegan. Mr. Snyder was born December 31, 1938, in Otsego to Gilbert and Minnie (Clear) Snyder.

He began his working career as a baker and for many years was employed at Cooper Foundry. His favorite leisure time activity was fishing, especially with his friend, Gene Slater.

On July 10, 1963 in Otsego he married the former Judith Wood who died in 1996. Also preceding him in death were a son, Michael, brothers John, Howard, Robert and his twin brother, Murl; and a granddaughter, Sarah.

Surviving are four daughters, Georgia (Larry), Katrina (Michael) Harris, both of Otsego, Elizabeth (Bill) of Harrison, MI, Brenda of Plainwell; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Gilbert Snyder of Arkansas; several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Otsego Masonic Temple.

Dear Family of Vurl,

I am so sorry for your loss. He was a really nice person and became one of my favorite stops. I will miss him. I am sure he has found himself a great fishing spot. Prayers to all.

I have many memories of fishing and spending weekends either at their house or ours adults playing cards and us kids roller skating or whatever. He’s with aunt judy now fishing in the big lake. Rest in peace. Angela
