Virginia Rose Kowall

Virginia R. Kowall, age 92, of Portage, Michigan passed away on January 27, 2018. She was surrounded by and in the care of her loving son, David, and his family, the wonderful staff of Vicinia Gardens in Otsego, Michigan, and Medical Team Hospice.

Ginny was born in Chicago, Illinois in January 1926, the daughter of George and Angelina Pohl. Raised in Chicago, in 1952 she moved to southwestern Michigan with the love of her life, Eugene, and their three small children. Ginny had a deep love of books, Broadway musicals, gardening, family and her dogs. She also enjoyed her world travels with Gene.

Virginia is survived by her children, Richard Kowall (Edward Maloney) of New York City, Janet (Timothy) Greeley of Marquette, David (Kathy) Kowall of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Emily (Brandon) Haugh, Theodore (Erika) Greeley, Patrick (Amy) Greeley, Melissa Kowall and Nathan Kowall; great grandchildren, Lucy Haugh and Virginia (Ginny) Greeley. She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Oleana) Stewart, of Los Altos, Ca.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 62 years, Eugene.

A private family gathering will be held this spring to honor & remember Ginny’s life.

Rest In Peace my little speed racer. You are missed by so many already.

David and Kathy I can not imagine the pain of losing a parent. I’m so sorry for your loss Ginny was an amazing person. Her smile lite up the whole room. Her personality was larger that life. It was such an honor to be able to help her and care for her in her last few months. She will be missed by all of us at Vicinia Gardens. Your whole family is in our thoughts and prayers.
