Family and Friends of Troy,

My sincerest condolences for the loss of an amazing spirit. From kindergarten to High School we were classmates , I was witness to many of his failures and triumphs through those years. The most prominate characteristic of Troy that stood out for me was his values. He was always fair to one another during the awkward times of fitting in and finding our place, staying true himself and others. I can only imagine that Troy Boy (everyone has called him that at some point, lol) grew up to be just an older version of the boy I used to know:). Some may not know this, but he was one helluva trombone player as well.

I trust in knowing that I’m a better person today for having known you yesterday my friend, farewell Troy Boy

XOXO

Janet, Destiny, Trent , Marissa and family/friends of Troy

My sister (Jennifer Thomas-Powell) told me the news Tuesday night about the passing of Troy. Nothing I could possible say can take my heart felt grief that you are feeling right now. All I can say what help me when my mother died 9 years ago is that God promise his people relief from all troubles in the next world, relief from some troubles in this life. Faithful people throughout the centuries witness dramatic deliverances from sickness, from financial woes, from all manner of troubles. Flesh-and-blood human beings have testified to miracles. Sometimes we aren’t relieved by God. Sometimes we merely endure. This isn’t such a bad thing. We are never nearer to God than when we are troubled. In times of comfort and ease we forget him. In the worst of times, we suddenly remember, “Ah, what if I asked God for help?” Sometimes the answer is the help we pray for. Sometimes the answer is “Lean on me, and you will survive and thrive.” With all that said keep the Lord close to your heart in this time and memory of your father, friend, grandfather, son, cousin, etc. will live on in all of you.

Psalm 23:1-4

The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, and my stronghold.

Psalm 18:2

Weeping may go on all night, but joy comes with the morning.

Psalm 30:5

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.

Psalm 46:1-2

You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.

Psalm 126:5

He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

“When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”

Isaiah 43:2

“God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

“God blesses those who are persecuted because they live for God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

“God blesses you when you are mocked and persecuted and lied about because you are my followers. “Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted, too.”

Phil, Paula, Destiny, Trent, Rissa, Janet, Lisa, John and Noah… I cant tell you how sorry I am for your loss! It breaks my heart to think of the pain you all must be feeling right now. So many questions left unanswered, so many memories not made and words not spoken. Right now nothing that is said or done can make a difference while dealing with this pain. As I sit and ponder on memories of Troy I can tell you that he truly had a huge heart! I remember several times when I was having a rough moment where he consoled me and I earnestly felt he meant it. I know over the years, he has had some rough moments of his own and I cant imagine how this may have affected you. I get mad at the enemy of this world, when I think of 6 years ago, this was not the plan that you all had for him, nor was it his plan for himself and his family. He was stolen from you way too early! I pray that he is at peace with our savior in heaven and I pray that you feel peace on earth as you lay his body to rest and hope for the promise of seeing him again some day. May you all feel God’s presence and love surround you at this time and throughout the days ahead. God bless you all. Love, Chris

Troy, I will never forget you. My family and I will keep you alive and well in our hearts every time we go to a baseball game and hear someone yell “this isn’t bush league” or a football game and hear a deep thunderous voice cheer for Otsego. We spent so many sunny afternoons together watching our children grow and enjoying being parents of rowdy boys, and the stories you and bud shared I will always laugh about and I’m sure my other boys will never forget. We love you so much, save us a seat in heaven. See you soon, Wendy Jo, Bud, Hagan, Colin & Mason Brown

Please accept my expression of sadness and sorrow at the death of your son. I did not know him, and have not been in contact with OHS schoolmates much since high school…until we all began sharing info on the Vanished Otsego site on FB. I read there of your loss. I lost my husband not long ago and it threw me for a big loop even though he had been in ill health for years. I cannot imagine how you are going to be feeling these next months. I pray your family and friends will be able to help you through this. Take ALL the help you are offered ! I found that sometimes you NEED to let someone help YOU so that they can also get through loss like this. Find someone to listen when you break down, and let them cry with you.
