Thomas Riggs

Thomas A. Riggs of Cooper Twp., Michigan, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 in Kalamazoo. Mr. Riggs was born March 20, 1945 in Detroit to Leon and Cathryn (Huey) Riggs.

He had been employed with Eaton Corporation and retired from Plainwell Public Schools after many years of service. Tom loved farming, hunting, boating and camping.

On June 18, 1966 in Portage he married Shirley Briggs, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters and a son, Marcia Riggs of Plainwell, Corie Riggs of Niles and

Glen Riggs

of Kalamazoo; a brother, Doug (Mary Ellen) Riggs of Plainwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday May 18, 2013 at Oak Grove Bible Church, 7655 Ravine Rd., Kalamazoo, Michigan, Pastor David Ives officiating. Private burial of ashes will be at West Cooper Cemetery.

Shirley, Marcia, Corie, and Glen,

So sorry to hear of your Dad/husband’s passing. Wish I could be with you all now and give you one huge hug. Just know I am thinking about you and praying for God’s peace at this time and the years to come. Tom was a good guy, laid back and you all have a little of him in you. Cherish the memories.

Shirley, Corrie,Marcia, and Glenn–So sorry to read of Tom’s passing. I have fond memories of all of you at Dr. Smith’s and watching the kids grow up. Tom was such a kind man and loved his family. May you know God is with you and all of your wonderful memories will help you at this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. The Portage High Class of 1963 will add his name to our Memory board “gone but not forgotten.” May God watch over you all at this sad time.

Marcia and family , I’m sad for your loss of Tom .I’m thankful to have been able to see your family just a few weeks ago . I have known Tom since our days at the Portage Schools , and seem to always run into him some where around Cooper . Rest in peace good man .
