July 2, 1931

Kalamazoo
to
Forest
and Dorothy (Reedman) Bent and was a lifelong resident of the area. In 1949 he graduated from
Otsego
High School
. Tom served his country in the Unites States Navy during the Korean War. Less than a month after his discharge he started working at Consumers Power Company, where he worked for almost 35 years. He began as a lineman and retired in 1987 as a supervisor. Tom enjoyed his airplane, fishing, hunting, traveling, gardening, his motorcycle, camping, canoeing and the great outdoors. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #345 and the Plainwell Pilots Association. On
July 29, 1951
, in Allegan he married the former Ruth Brown and they had celebrated 59 years together. Also surviving are four daughters, Dotty (Dale) Robidoux of Otsego, Teri (Mark) Tripp of Plainwell, Patti (Dan) Nienhuis of Holland and Linda (David) Rantz of Plainwell; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Bent of
Oklahoma
; 4 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Gary and Gerald Bent; and a sister, Betty Augustine. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday with funeral celebrant Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow at
