Terry passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
He was born December 21, 1949 in Marion, Indiana, the son of Stephen and Lois (Seeger) Terhune. Terry graduated from Marion High School where he was class president. He went on to graduate from Purdue University where he served as president of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Terry had owned and operated The Fireside Restaurant and Lounge in Otsego for 20 years until his retirement in 2013.
He loved golfing and spent many hours on the greens at Prairiewood Golf Course. He had been the president of the Prairiewood Neighborhood HOA for many years. Terry was a big sports fan and enjoyed following the Bears, Tigers and Blackhawks. He also enjoyed attending Purdue football games with his brothers, John and Steve.
Terry was strong- willed and a fighter, the strongest man his children ever knew. He had a great sense of humor and his one-liners will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his children, Trisha Gesmundo and her children, Canyon and Kaia; Stephen Nathaniel Terhune and Gina Terhune along with his siblings, Stephanie Bessett, Steve Terhune, Jane Ann DuLong and John Terhune.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 17, 2018, with a time of sharing memories starting at 12:00 P.M., at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego.

I am extremely saddened on the loss of Terry. What an incredible man! His love for golf was so contagious! I will always be grateful to him for not only the love and support he showed my two boys, but ABSOLUTELY every player on the Otsego golf team. He also attended other competitive tournaments. Many times he would even caddie for the kids. His kindness will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with his children, grandchildren and siblings. We have lost a fine man! Rest in peace my dear friend! You will be missed! Go Tigers!

We were surprised and saddened to hear of Terry’s passing. Played golf with him many times over the years at Prairiewood Golf Course and spent many happy hours at the Fireside Restaurant and Bar.
We knew him as a friend and neighbor. I don’t think I ever won a political argument with him but it was entertaining. Rest in Peace and hit them long wherever your playing.

I enjoyed spending time with Terry at Prairiewood and stopping by his house on my walk for an adult beverage. We had many laughs together which will be missed

Such a great guy to just have good honest conversations with. Didn’t matter if we were talking sports, life or real estate it was always a fun conversation. So sorry I missed his call the other day. I had just told my wife I needed to go see him and the next day I was told of his passing. My condolences to the family. I’m hoping for an early game schedule Saturday in sturgis to make it back in time.

I’m heavy-hearted to hear of Terry’s passing. He was always very kind and welcoming to me, and I’ll never forget his support and words of wisdom. For today I shall set Sparty aside, and Boiler Up with you, Terry! My thoughts are with his family in this time of sorrow, and I pray that God may ease their pain.

Called on Terry for over 15 years as a food sales representative. Considered him not only a customer, but a friend. Sorry to hear of his passing.

I knew Terry as a high school friend in Marion, IN. I knew he was a Beta at Purdue and saw him there a few times while visiting the DG House. We have Terhune stories from 9th grade that I still remember vividly (the infamous watermelon heist while sleeping over in Terry’s backyard). We played IM basketball together and Terry dated Linda Guthrie who I later married. He was a good guy then and I’m sure it carried throughout his life. He was a presidential guy—his high school senior class, his fraternity at Purdue, and his homeowners association, and with all due respect, my guess is the HOA presidency was the most challenging. He is gone too soon.

It was one of the saddest days when I heard of my good friends passing. Too many good times on the pool table and golf outings will be remembered. He raised wonderful kids and my heart goes all out for your loss as well. This man did it right on all levels. Love from the Murrays!
