Suzanne C. Kirk

Suzanne passed away, Sunday, June 9, 2024, at her home in Otsego. 

She was born December 31, 1944, in Kingsley, the daughter of David and Dorothy (Tomes) Brautigam. Suzanne was a childcare worker for the State Hospital in Kalamazoo before starting her family. She enjoyed raising her girls and was a girl scout leader. When her daughters were grown, she returned to the State Hospital until her retirement. She then went on to work at Borgess Hospital until her final retirement.

In her free time, she liked taking care of her home, baking, crocheting, coloring and sewing. She had a green thumb and enjoyed growing many different plants. Suzanne was a member of the Oak Grove Bible Church in Kalamazoo. On December 7, 1968, in Kalamazoo, she married James Kirk who survives. 

Also surviving are her daughters, Ellen (George) Gama of Otsego and Emily (Jeff) Cobb of Plainwell; 5 grandchildren, Molly (Ronald), Hannah (Grant), Nathan, Madelynne and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Flynn, Evelynn, Owen, Jesse and another due in December; sister, Judith (Neil) Smith; brother, David (Sally) Brautigam along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

According to her wishes cremation has taken place. 

A celebration of Suzanne’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Oak Grove Bible Church in Kalamazoo with Pastor David Ives officiating.
