Stanley L. Mcnees
Stanley passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at his home in Plainwell.
He was born September 10, 1933 in Kalamazoo the son of Stanley and Virginia (Mott) McNees. Stan graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1950 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He worked at several area businesses over the years including Southerland Paper Mill, Sherwin Williams, Pinkerton Security and for over 23 years at Bohn Aluminum.
Stan’s greatest hobby was farming. He also enjoyed oil painting, making lead soldiers and carpentry. He was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Otsego. On August 15, 1953 in Kalamazoo he married Carolyn Miller who passed away in 2011.
Surviving are his children, Linda Jolicoeur of Bloomingdale, Douglas (Judith) McNees of Lawton and Scott (Jeannie) McNees of Bloomingdale; 11 grandchildren, Tammy, Dennis Jr., Joe, Michael, Nathan, Hailey, Kyle, Wyatt, Scotty, Kaitilyn and Emma; several great-grandchildren and his brother, Donald McNees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sons, Steven and Michael.
Friends may visit with Stan’s family starting at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Winkel Funeral Home, until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor David Youngs officiating.
Cremation will follow.
Burial of ashes will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Bloomindale at a later time.

Our friend, Mr Stan, as he was known by the children, was an institution in the neighborhood. He was most well known for being a kind man. His easy manner and helpful nature were well known to us all. Stan was quick to smile and quicker to joke. He served our country, our community, his family and our Lord.
We’ll miss him like crazy.

Sorry to her of the passing of Bud as we knew him. He was a quiet man but he always took the time to stop and Talk when ever we seen him in Plainness Walmart Store. he will be missed .

He was a Very Kind Gentle Soul , and Yes, he will be Greatly Missed !
I always thought of him as ” A Gentle Giant ” in a Good Way ! I will always CHERISH his Lead Soldiers named
“BORN IN THE SHADOW OF THE CROSS” and Custer’s Last Stand “, which he so graciously gave to me !

I just heard today of the loss of your father. Your grandmother Virginia and my dad Robert were brother and sister; for reasons I don’t know, they stopped interacting in 1954 when I was about 2. My mom always referred to Stan and Don as “The Boys” and I met them for the first time I remember around 1984 and had coffee with them a few times after. Your dad was wonderful; funny, engaging, and personable and I deeply regret not knowing him and his children better. I hope that your memories of life with your dad can give you some comfort and ease the pain of your loss. Sincerely, Bonnie Mott Ketchum
