What pleasant childhood memories I have of Shirley. She was the sweetest woman always greeted by her hugs and her beautiful smile. She would light up the room. My parents Barb and Bernie De Bruyne loved her so dearly and Shirley spent allot of time in our home with Tom. This I am sure heaven gained another angel and we lost a very compassionate woman. Although her memory will live on through us all Danny, Tom and Connie my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours and I will treasure your Mother’s love always and I will miss her!

Shirley was such a character. With her trademark smirk and her witty comments; she’d have you cracking up. I use to tell her she “looked like a movie star”. She reminded me of a young Ava Gardner. She had as much class as she had sass. What a gentle heart she had. She had the amazing ability to comfort people when they were hurting. Very compassionate.
I remember my Dad and Tom and Lawrence Barber getting together at our house and playing guitars. Tom always brought his “Jim Beam” with him. It was fun when they had a cottage at Baseline Lake, down the road from ours. I remember Danny had that same smirk that Shirley had.
Our loss is Heaven’s gain. I was blessed to know such a special woman. I pray God eases your grief with time. I have a 29 year old Son in Heaven. It’s so hard to lose a loved one. Can’t you just picture her smirking right before she makes a wise crack?
