Scott passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
He was born December 10, 1960 in Allegan the son of Scott III and Donna (Brabon) Matthews. Scott proudly served his country in the US Air Force. For 20 years he had worked as a union electrician for IBEW Local #131. After his retirement he owned and operated Matthews Sport Fishing Charters where he was the Captain of the Smokin Hot for more than 7 years. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, model trains, drag racing, following NASCAR and watching the History Channel.
Surviving are his father; 2 sisters, Kathleen (Darrell) Fraaza of Martin and Julia (Daniel) Doran of Plainwell; his ex-wife, Robin Matthews of Plainwell along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Wolfe.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
Friends may visit with Scott’s family from 6-8 P.M., Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego.
His family would like to thank Allegan Homecare, especially Mia, for the wonderful care and support Scott received.

Robin and Scott’s family, I am so sorry for your loss! Scott meant a lot to me and will never forget all the good times we had! I will miss talking to Scott during the Packer games on how they were doing! Hugs and prayers for you all!

RIP Did not know. He was so sick. I enjoyed my times that I worked with Scott he was a very good guy, we had a lot of laughs, and talks about fishing and hunting. So sad that cancer is so horrible, it takes the best people. thoughts are with the family.
