Scott Bowen

Scott passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in Grand Rapids. 

He was born February 21, 1958, in Kalamazoo, the son of Nelson and Aleva (Hawes) Bowen. Scott worked for Kalamazoo Township Fire Department for 25 years and had worked for Burroughs in Kalamazoo as a supervisor retiring from both in 2011.He enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing and processing game with his best friend Bill. Scott loved his family and adored his grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughters, Heather (Robert) Ellis and Erin (James) Coburn both of Otsego; 5 grandchildren, Ava, Megan, Mason, Alexander and Nevaeh; his brother Todd (Dawn) Bowen and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.

Friends may visit with Scott’s family from 5-7 P.M. Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Winkel Funeral Home, where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 10, 2024 with Celebrant Nyla Merrill, officiating. The family asks that everyone please dress casually.

 Burial will follow at Mt. Home Cemetery, Otsego with tributes by the Kalamazoo Fire Department.

Contributions in memory of Scott may be made to Great Lakes Burn Camp or the West Michigan Spina Bifida Organization.
