Ron passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the Wings Home in Allegan.
He was born March 22, 1939, the son of Gerald and Marguerite (Sullivan) Cade. Ron was a 1958 Plainwell High School graduate. He had been a truck driver, delivered campers and was a Plumber with the Local Union in Kalamazoo, retiring from Stafford-Smith in 1995.
Ron served as township supervisor and trustee for Otsego Township, vice president of Local 357 and as a Cub Scout leader. He was a member of the 2 Cylinder Club of Buckley, the Plainwell Pilots Association and life member of the Otsego Elks.
In his free time Ron enjoyed restoring tractors with his grandkids, working on models, snowmobiling and deer hunting. Ron loved his family and was known for fighting with his brother for cheesecake. On June 27, 1970 at the First Congregational Church of Otsego, he married Darlene “Sue” (Sherwood) Nelson who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Randy Cade and Mitch Cade; step-sons, Doug Nelson, Larry Nelson and Vern (Lisa) Nelson; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Jackie) Cade along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; step-son, Steven and brothers, James and Dale.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
Friends may visit with Ron’s family starting at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Greg Carlson officiating.

My heart goes out to Sue and their family . Ron was one of the good guys. I’m thankful for all the years they hosted our class of 58 reunions. Allowing us to stay connected all these years. Ron will be missed by many .
