Roger Rasmussen
Roger M. Rasmussen of Otsego, MI passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Briarwood Assisted Living in Allegan. He was born January 29, 1919 in Ludington to Hans and Anne (Madsen) Rasmussen and grew up in the Gaylord area. He served his country in the US Marines as a pilot during WWII. Roger had been a forester with the Department of Natural Resources for almost 40 years. In his spare time he enjoyed volunteering for many conservation groups, being outdoors, taking walks, hunting, fishing and photography. In the 1940’s he married Geraldine “Jerri” Hall who preceded him in death. Surviving are his children, Jim (Rhonda) Rasmussen and Mary (husband) Vanderboll and brother, Jack (Shirley) Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
Contributions in memory of Roger may be made to the HeadWaters Land Conservancy of Gaylord.

Sorry for the loss my dad Darrel Allen worked with him at the Plainwell DNR office he also has passed February 16th 2014

I’m saddened by the passing of one of the finest men I have ever met.
I was a young forester who worked for Roger on the Pigeon River State
Foreset in Gaylord. He was an ideal role model for a young forester, and and I learned a lot about forestry and life from Roger.
Condolences to his children Jim and Mary- Roger left his legacy- served his country in WW2 and was a fine forester and set high
standards for us young foresters who had the privilege of working for him.

Roger was one of the finest men I ever met. I was a young forester 2 years out of U of Michigan School of Forestry when I worked for Roger
on the Pigeon River State Forest in Gaylord MI. He was an ideal role model for a young forester and I learned a lot about forestry, and life
from Roger.
Condolences to his children Jim and Mary. Roger left his legacy- served his country in WW2 and set high standards for us young foresters who had the privilege of working for him.
