Robert Orris of
Martin p
assed away Saturday, January 2, 2010 at home with his family by his side. Mr. Orris was born February 6, 1926 in Columbus City, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Nancy (Eshleman) Orris. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Bob was a Purple Heart recipient, serving in Europe. He farmed most of his life and for several years was the sexton of the park and cemeteries in Martin. He loved and cherished his family. On July 31, 1948 he married Pauline Lober, who survives. Also surviving are a son and daughter, Daniel (Bernadine) Orris of Kentwood, Carol Orris of Martin; four grandchildren, Patti (Keith) Patterson, Nancy Orris, Jill (Mark) Dodds, Daniel Orris, Jr; three great grandchildren, Jacob, Mitchell and Abigail Patterson; two sisters, Helen Buyce, Evelyn ‘Pearl’ Shook; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Orris, brothers-in-law, Melville Shook, Dale Williams and Dirk Elferink; many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were sisters, Lucille Porter, Mary Shattuck, Wilma ‘Jean’ Elferink and Dorothy Williams; brothers, David, Vernon, Herbert, Warren and Ralph. Friends may meet with his family from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at
Winkel Funeral Home
where services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Mr. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will be in South Martin Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice.
