August 30, 1930

in

Washington

,

D.C.

to Edward and Virginia (

Sanford

) Schaefer. At the age of 8 Bob entered

Fort

Union

Military

Academy

. He later graduated from

Stanton

Military

Academy

. He then served his country as a Drill Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Bob earned his

BBA

at

Western

Michigan

University

and for over 20 years he was employed in sales with the Detroit Free Press. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Allegan and for several years volunteered with Wings of Hope Hospice. On

May 3, 1952

in Allegan he married Esther Sandahl, who died in 1994. Bob was also preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his children, Sue Katrina Sandahl (Bob) Jenkins of Oregon, Robert E.L. Crim,

III

and Mark (Louise) Crim, both of Allegan and Mary (Thomas) Soule of Portage; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his special friend, Norma St. Clair of

Richland

. For the past 10 years they had enjoyed traveling and spending time together. Friends may meet the family from 2 to 4 and

Funeral services will be held at

Church

, Allegan on Saturday at

11:00 A.M.

, Pastor Ronald Bessert officiating. Burial will follow at

. Contributions in memory of Bob may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice or Immanuel Lutheran Church of Allegan.
