Robert Doster passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at his son’s home on Pine Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Sally; son, Mark (Gale) Doster, daughters, Leesa (Richard Thomas) Doster and Karen (Rick Konecky) Doster; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; a sister Gail (Dale) Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Matthew, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Robert was born February 21, 1933 in Kalamazoo the son of Dale and Lillian (Eitell) Doster.
His family moved to Cooper Township and he attended Plainwell Schools where he won Varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball. Bob was a proud Notre Dame fan. In his early years he was a horse jockey. Bob was very proud of his heritage in the Doster family and was a direct descendent of John and Priscilla Alden who came over on the Mayflower on his mother’s side. He was an avid golfer. Bob enlisted in the Air Force when the Korean Conflict broke out and was assigned to the Strategic Air Command where he was assigned to Lockborne AFB, Ohio and North Africa and obtained the rank of S/Sgt. After the service he worked for Upjohn/Pfizer in the Fine Chemicals Division until his retirement in 1990. Bob and Sally traveled many years to Hawaii and spent their winters in Venice, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC and summers in South Haven. Bob was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus where he had served as Grand Knight. He was a member of the American Legion and Elks.
Friends may meet with Bob’s family Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 3 to 6 P.M. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Margaret Catholic Church, Otsego on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11:00 A.M.
Burial will follow at St. Margaret Catholic Cemetery, Otsego with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Bob may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, St. Margaret Catholic School or Centrica Care Navigators.

So Sorry for your loss of a great man he was a great guys and was loved by everyone that got to know him. Sally & family so sorry for your loss of Bob,
We go back so far in our friendship since i was 18 with you and Ken being 10 years younger than Bob, enjoyed watching him in his sports. We enjoyed visiting with Bob and you and seeing you two with your warm friendly smiles at The Elks lodge. Dinners. You will always have your wonderful memories of him.
