Robert D. Pulver

Kalamazoo

Robert “Dixon” Pulver passed away, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo surrounded by family.

He was born July 16, 1964, in Plainwell the son of Robert and Dolores (Carruthers) Pulver. Dixon was a 1982 Otsego High School graduate. He worked in the car business for over 30 years in southwest Michigan.

On June 5, 1996, Dixon married Karena (Reynolds) Pulver in Plainwell, Michigan. Throughout their 19-year marriage, they enjoyed traveling to tropical destinations with family friends, and with their four children, Emily, Andrew, Matthew, and Mackenzie. His children affectionately referred to him as “Poppy.”

When he wasn’t traveling to tropical destinations, he enjoyed summers at Sandy Pines with his family and boating in South Haven with his dear friend Craig Richards. Dixon had a soft spot for cookies and usually wound the day down with a fresh glass of milk and a few one too many cookies.

Dixon’s passions included his love for the Lord, family, and music, which were commonly intertwined. Throughout his life, Dixon enjoyed singing, often harmonizing with his sisters Penny Baker and Michele Pulver. In his adult life, Dixon directed and sang in numerous choirs at North Park Reformed Church, Second Christian Reformed Church, Otsego Methodist Church, most recently the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and many more.

Surviving are his children: Emily, Andrew, Matthew, and Mackenzie. Also surviving are his former spouse, Karena Pulver; a very dear friend, Will; sisters, Michele Pulver and Penny (Lark) Baker; sisters-in-law, Barbara Pulver and Pam Pulver along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mark Pulver, brother Craig Pulver who passed a day before him, nephew Seth Browning, and niece Mia Browning. We will also be remembering Craig with the Pulver family at the visitation.

Friends may visit with Dixon’s family from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3000 West Main St., Kalamazoo, MI 49006.
