Robert L. “Bob” Henry, Sr. of Alamo, Michigan (formerly of Allegan) passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011 in Alamo. Mr. Henry was born April 16, 1926 in Martin to Samuel and Stella (Young) Henry and had been a lifelong resident of the area. During WWII he served nearly four years with the U.S. Navy and an additional four years in the Navy Reserves. For 23 years Bob was employed with Valley Metal building windows and then was a mechanic at Boylan Leasing for 17 years, retiring in 1988. Bob had a strong work ethic which he instilled into his children. A former pilot, he enjoyed collecting model planes and loved to repair electronics. Bob had attended the Watson Bible Church and later the Oak Grove Bible Church. On November 23, 1946 in Hopkins he was married to Lorraine Simpson, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Robert (Kelly) Henry, Jr. of Allegan, Patricia D’Amore of Pine Lake, Kay Hatten of Allegan, Gary (Barb) Henry of Gobles and Diane (Denny) Talsma of Allegan; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Arehart of Plainwell; a brother, LaVerne “Ben”(Evelyn) Henry of Zeeland; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings, Stewart Henry, Wayne Henry, Janette VanDine, Dorothy Doxey and Hollis Henry; and two grandchildren, Tony and Lisa. Friends may meet with Bob’s family from 4 to 6 P.M. Wednesday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, with Pastor Ray Brown officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #3030. Burial will take place at Miner Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bob may be made to The Michigan Parkinson Foundation.

Lorraine and family,,,,,,I am so sorry for your loss. After moving to Kalamazoo last fall, I lost track of our family History and didn’t know about Bobs passing……
