Bob passed away peacefully Friday, September 2, 2016 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.
He was born November 26, 1928 in Plainwell the son of Leon and Helen (Shears) Murdock. Bob graduated from Otsego High School in 1946. He was drafted into the US Army in October 1950 and was honorably discharged in October 1952. Bob worked at his grandparent’s dairy, A.I. Shears in Otsego, for many years at Michigan Cottage Cheese also in Otsego and at Bareman Dairy in Holland until his retirement. In high school he enjoyed playing football and basketball and was president of his senior class. Football was a true passion of Bob’s and he was a big fan of the Detroit Lions, the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Otsego Bulldogs. Bob loved his family and was very proud of them. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids work in “Bob’s garage” on their cars. He had a love for animals and enjoyed doting over his cat, Rosie. On April 2, 1955 in Plymouth he married Elizabeth “Ann” Cadot who passed away in 1995.
Surviving are his sons, Steven Murdock of Otsego, David (Lisa) Murdock of Plainwell and Donald Murdock of Otsego; 4 grandchildren, Josh (Kayla) Murdock, Jordan (Joe) Riley, Matthew (Amber) Murdock and Nate Murdock and 2 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Hannah Murdock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Helen Nevins and daughter-in-law, Amy Murdock.
Friends may visit with Bob’s family from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego and starting at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. with Celebrant, Bill Rose officiating.
Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego.
Military Honors by Otsego VFW Post #3030.
Contributions in memory of Bob may be made to the
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)

Bob was one of the nicest guys you would ever want to know. I worked with Steve and Don at Menasha, and heard many wonderful stories about their dad. The world is a sadder place without Bob.
