Rick Himmelein

Rick passed away, Monday, July 8, 2024, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. 

He was born March 13, 1957, the son of Dean and Mary Ellen (Blanchard) Himmelein. Rick graduated from Plainwell High School where he enjoyed playing football. For over 40 years, he was a heavy equipment operator retiring from Operating Engineers Local 324. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed drawing houses, fishing and mowing his lawn. He liked following NASCAR, especially Richard Petty and was an avid U of M Wolverine football fan. 

Surviving are his children, Jennifer (Danell Hilton) Himmelein of Paw Paw, Melissa (Capen) McLemore of Pullman and Erica (Barry) Bower of Paw Paw; step-children, Dale (Trisha) Smith and Byron Smith; grandchildren, Baylee, Jacob, Becca, Alexia (Brian), Mayson, Hannah and Westen; step-grandchildren JT, Kyle, Alex, Noah and Reagan; 1 great- grandchild due soon, Aria; siblings Bill (Gretchen) Himmelein of Plainwell and Sheryl Himmelein of Otsego along with several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judith.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. 

A celebration of Rick’s life will be held from 3-6 PM, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the Clippers Café, 1566 10th St., Martin.
