Richard S. Smith of Otsego, Michigan, died

. Mr. Smith was born
July 15, 1918
in
Watson
Township
to Richard and Vinia Smith and was a lifelong resident of the area. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. For many years he was employed with Dermatalic Flowserve as a press operator. Richard was a member of the Otsego V.F.W. Post #3030, the Otsego American Legion Post #84 and the Moose Lodge #345. In April of 1962 he married Vivian Crawford, who died in 2002. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Nancy Goodacre, in 1997, and nine siblings. Surviving are ten children, Burdette “Bob” (Sue) Smith of Marcellus, Wanda (Merritt) Bush of Otsego, Howard (Heli) Smith of Radcliff, KY, Marie (Jim) Strong of Kalamazoo, Ken (Kathy) Smith of Bloomingdale, Sandy (John) Brady of Indiana, David Riemens of Tennessee, Jim (Peggy) Riemens of Plainwell,
Ed (Carmen) Smith of Holland and Janet Stonerock of Kalamazoo; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother, Mike Smith of Allegan; many nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from

Thursday at the
Winkel Funeral Home,
Otsego
where a Moose Lodge ceremony will be held at
7:00 P.M.
and funeral services will be held at
11:00 A.M.
Friday, Mr. William Rose, funeral celebrant officiating. Military
Honors at
Mallory
Cemetery
, Allegan will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #3030. Contributions in Richard’s memory may be made to Moose Heart or Moose Haven.
