July 19, 1925
in Otsego, the son of John and Gertrude (Hosler) Watson. He played the organ and also danced and sang, he loved cards, gardening, golf and had gone to
Canada
fishing for many years. Dick was a member and officer of the Otsego Fire Department, and was also a member of the Otsego Elks Club for many years and the Rotary Club. He had a coal yard for a short time and was the youngest manager of a Kroger Store at the age of 18, before opening Dick’s Grocery in 1950 then purchased Berry’s, Dalrymple’s and Pirrone’s Grocery Stores. He retired in 1971 due to his health. On
January 1, 1944
in Otsego, he married his highschool sweetheart, Naila Sherwood who survives. Also surviving are their children, Linda (Joseph) Wahmhoff of Grand Junction, Ronald Watson of Otsego, John (Claudia) Watson of Holland, Debra (Ernie) Miller of Wayland; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters-in-law, Ida Sprague, Delberta Brundage, Gerene Cronen and Beverly Watson; many nieces, nephews and cousins including a special cousin William Punches. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Amos, Wally, Dean and Velma. Friends may meet with the family Monday from 2-4 and
