Rev. Arthur Clement
Rev. Arthur J. Clement of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011, in Kalamazoo. Rev. Clement was born May 7, 1929 in Mauston, Wisconsin to Arthur J. and Ragnhild (Larson) Clement.
He graduated from Mauston (WI) High School and Concordia Seminary and College of Springfield, Illinois on June 5, 1953 and that same year was ordained at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Hale, Michigan. Among the churches he served was St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Parchment. He also served as Chaplain at the University of Wisconsin before retiring, and then was called out of retirement to be Chaplain at the University of Michigan. In addition, he authored 6 books. Pastor Clement was currently a member of
Peace Lutheran Church, Otsego
.
On July 5, 1952 in Detroit he married Carol (Ziebell), who survives. Together they had celebrated 59 years of marriage. Also surviving are three children; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. Preceding him in death were his parents and one grandchild.
Friends may visit with his family from 5 to 7 P.M. Thursday at the
Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego
. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at
Peace Lutheran Church, Otsego
, Pastor Jason Thiel and Pastor Josh Olson officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
