Reba taught me many things about life, love, marriage, relationships, family but above all GOD! Reba’s life on earth was not an easy walk, struggling with many things from early childhood on. However, the Love she had for the Father & His Son Jesus Christ, is something that continued to shine! I met Reba towards the last years of her time here on earth, but to me she was family nonetheless.
Many talks, many things shared, much wisdom she left with me. She had a stubborn side, feisty, strong willed and at times could be down right a “stinker” but once again, LOVE is what I saw deep within her. Many fond memories that I will carry in my heart, Thanksgiving & Christmas dinner at my house, trying to sneak my dog back home with her. CANDY was always near her reach. Old Plank Road Strawberry french toast was her “favorite” treat along with Plainwell Ice Cream.
She had a love for trinkets, little statues, inspirational books, birds, squirrels and flowers and much much more. She loved her gospel music and did her best to sing along. Her husband AB was the love of her life they shared many years of ups and downs, health issues, and loss but Reba held her love for AB deep within her heart. Reba’s poodle Max was another love of her life, pictures after pictures of how he never left her side. Her friends & family meant so much to her and right to the end she always tried to write letters to them, or call them just to let them know she cared.
Reba, knew that her life on earth would someday come to an end, but she was READY always telling me she was ready to go home and reunite with her Mother, Father, Siblings, Friends and her beloved AB. She knew Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior of her life, so she wasn’t worried where she was going but longed to return home for eternity.
I am forever blessed because the Lord allowed me the opportunity to know her. No matter what this world will throw at you, I learned through REBA that GOD will always see you through, if you trust in HIM and don’t listen to nonsense. It’s my prayer that everyone chooses to remember her for the goodness and love she truly had in her heart. To remember that life is to short and to cherish the people in your life and the time you have left with them.
My Reba… Ohh how I love you so…I will miss you very much. However, I know that you are no longer suffering, hurting, sad, lonely or sick. I know that you are WHOLE & COMPLETE walking on the streets of Gold. You my dear woman have touched my heart, you are my family no matter what. I have loved you like a Grandmother and I always will…Thank you for coming into my life and for showing me how to have strength to endure. I know it’s time to say farewell for now, however Reba I will carry the love & memories I have for you in my heart. I promise you I will continue on in the work of the Lord. I will miss you and all your ways….Yes ALL of them, for that is what made you “YOU”
One last time I am trying to make sure that you are taken care of…taking some pictures, sending a poem, making a few calls to your family, to make sure your life will be celebrated. I can hear you now “OK Momma” as you always would say I acted more like your mother than I did a friend. So….Miss Reba C. Braswell…YOU ARE SPECIAL, A GIFT, BLESSING & TREASURE. Until I see you again…May the Lord continue to tell you I Love You!

Reba was a very special lady to me she was like a grandma. I met her through Gretchen Kershaw. I can remember Reba loved her stuffed animals, she couldn’t have a real animal anymore so she would get stuffed ones, she use to show me her pictures of Max her precious dog. She use to love Christmas time with all the lights and the gifts. Reba loved to give gifts and to get gifts, no matter how small. She loved to tease. Reba was a one of a kind. she will be missed very much. I love you Reba I will see you again some day.

My Daughter Gretchen dearly loved you Reba. She loved you like a child would love it’s Grandma, even though you were not blood relatives. I remember when you went through sickness and you got mad at God for not bringing you home to Heaven. In His timing, you are now in Heaven with your loved ones. AB was probably waiting for you right inside the Pearly Gates. Your sisters have gathered around you and it’s a happy reunion for all. No more tears Reba. No more goodbye’s. No more waiting to go home. You’re home now. Thank you for treating my Daughter with so much love. You made her laugh and she cracked up at how feisty you were. I loved hearing about some of your experiences.
Reba, you were such a blessing to anyone who knew you. You were tenacious when you knew you were right. You had the courage to stand up and voice your feelings. The world was a much better world with you in it. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. You left footprints on people’s heart, and on their behind if they deceived you. lol

I met Reba when I responded to a Craigslist ad where she was seeking a helper. I’d take her to the grocery store and remember once she was in a scooter and someone was in her way in the aisle. She yelled “BEEP BEEP!” But the man didn’t move, so she said even louder “I SAID BEEP BEEP!”
We got lunch a couple times and I took her to visit her sister.
She changed living situations and I was never able to find out where she was sent because I wasn’t family. I’m so sad I never got to say goodbye, but I’m glad our stars aligned and I was able to know her for the short time I did.
