Raymond Baker

Raymond Baker of Otsego, MI passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014. Raymond was born March 7, 1925 in Otsego, MI the son of Alfred and Anna (Beck) Baker. Ray worked as a farmer for several years before serving his country in the United States Army during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1943. Following his time in the service Ray had worked for North American Aluminum, Ano- Kal & Charles Service. He was married to Joyce Langeance Hall on December 4, 1954 in Otsego, MI. He enjoyed camping, yard work, flower gardening, working with his hands and being outside. Ray also enjoyed working alongside his wife Joyce as she ran Wee World Daycare out of their home for 13 years, Ray became known as Papa Ray.

He is survived by his children, Kathi (Dave) Tice of Allegan, Kevin (Tina) Baker of Allegan, Kristine Baker of Anderson, IN, Kimberly Baker of Allegan, Kenneth Baker of Allegan and Kyle (Lori) Baker of Otsego ; 8 grandchildren, Brian Tice, Amy (Doug) Brink, Jerry Baker, Jason Baker, Matthew Baker, David Baker, Jamie Myers and Angela Boyett; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Baker and Anna Baker Klok; wife

Joyce Baker

in 2013; daughter, Karolyn Bayliff in 2002; siblings, Leona Bial, Verla Pillars, Dorothy Bronkema and Francis “Hank” Baker and grandson, Kenneth Ray Baker II in 2006.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Otsego Church of God, with Pastor Stephen Burrow officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery with Military Honors by Otsego VFW Post #3030.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the

Alzheimer’s Association

or to your local fire department.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is really sad that he was the last one left in the family. I have so many good memories of your parents and the fun times are families had together. Your parents were wonderful people and I miss the good old days . My prayers are with all of you.

So sorry to hear of your loss. It’s so difficult to lose a parent. Uncle Ray was such a nice man and great uncle. I remember our families getting together quite often.

Fun times at Milham Park when we were kids. I remember going to John Ball Zoo together years ago. I remember when Wizard of Oz was on tv once a year. We used to get together, have supper and watch it.

Such fond memories. Uncle Ray will be missed.
