Randy Lee Sargent of Kalamazoo, Michigan, was born on September 25, 1962, in Kalamazoo to Shirley (Pio) and Charles Sargent and passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010. He went peacefully with everyone that loved him by his bedside. It was horrible for his daughter Carrie, only ten, to see her wonderful dad go, but the last words that she said to him were “I Love You”. He will be missed. Randy was a graduate of Otsego High School, class of 1980. He enjoyed entertaining and loved spending quality time with his daughter Carrie and they loved to wrestle and play softball. He loved to walk his dog Lucky 2 time a day, even on a hot summer day. He loved to plant and mow the lawn for many, and plow snow for many others, and was known as Handy Randy. He had a soft spot for helping others and did all this with his heart because inside he was a teddy bear. Other interests included hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and NASCAR. Surviving are the love of his life, daughter Carrie; long time partner and best friend Debra Rooney and stepson, Kevin Rooney; his parents, Shirley and Charles Sargent; his brother, Michael Sargent; uncles, William Pio and Gerald (Sherri) Pio; sisters-in-law, Margaret (James) Nelson and Cindy (Tim) Pio; several nieces and nephews; his best friend Lucky Dawg; and Bella kitty. Cremation has taken place. No services will be held at this time. In lieu of cards of sympathy or flowers, contributions may be made at Kalsee Credit Union in the name of Carrie Sargent College Fund. Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, is serving the family.
