Ramon D. Thompson

Ramon D. Thompson of Plainwell, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in Kalamazoo. Mr. Thompson was born February 16, 1934 in Metcalf, IL the son of Lex and Vera (Stark) Thompson. For over 30 years, Ramon worked for Clarage Fan Co. (later Zurn) and retired from Roots. He was a member of United Steel Workers of America, local 3265. Ramon served in the Army from 1955 to 1959 in France. He enjoyed his family, traveling, fishing, bowling, mushrooming and yard work. Ramon was a jokester. On January 23, 1960 in Otsego, he married Barbara (Plotts), who survives. Also surviving are 4 daughters, Patricia (Bill) Harper, Peggy Thompson, Tammy (Jim) Drake, all of Otsego, Joni (Glenn) McNamara of White Pigeon; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, with one on the way; 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Ruth (Don) Finley of Illinois, Harry Thompson of Otsego, Max Thompson and Marcia (John) Slusher, all of Kentucky; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne, a grandson, Billy Harper and 2 brothers, Zane and Gerald. Friends may meet with his family from 2–5pm Sunday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where services will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M., Pastor David Thompson officiating. Interment in South Martin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
