Jack passed away, Friday, October 25, 2024, at his home in Otsego.
He was born May 29, 1937, in Plainwell, the son of James and Naomi (Punches) Parrish. Jack graduated from Otsego High School in 1956. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge. For several years Jack worked at Mac Sim Bar, Mead and retired from Rock Tenn in 2002.
Jack enjoyed traveling to the Upper Peninsula, especially to Sault Ste. Marie and Whitefish Point. He was a skilled woodworker and liked spending time in his woodshop. He liked trips to Shipshewana, doing puzzles and listening to gospel music. Jack was happiest when surrounded by his family. Having coffee with his siblings and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great joy. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Otsego. On December 26, 1960, he married Judith Rose who survives.
Also surviving are his daughters, Sandy Wagstaff and Pam (Lance Hildebrand) Try both of Otsego; grandchildren, Amber (Jason) Breedveld, Tom (Kim) Nichols, Travis (Abby) Try, Rachele (Luke) Angelo and Kristin (Robert) Long; great-grandchildren, Ella, Bre, Morgan, MaKenna, Collin, Alyssa, Maddy, Katherine, Emilie and Parker along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean; brothers, Bob, Jim, Larry and Garry; sons-in-law, John Try and Mark Wagstaff and by his fur buddy, Edmond “Buddy”, who he loved playing ball with.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 11, 2024, at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego, with Pastor Paul Laborde officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jack may be directed to Wings of Hope Hospice or First Baptist Church of Otsego.
