Phil passed away, Thursday, April 25, 2024, at his home in Plainwell.
He was born December 7, 1940, in Plainwell, the son of Ernest and Mary (Rikerd) Glass. Phil graduated from Plainwell High School in 1959 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
For over 20 years he worked at Eaton Corporation in Kalamazoo and at Parker Hannifin for an additional 20 years until his retirement in 2004. Phil also owned and operated his family farm. He served as constable in Watson Township, ran the township dump and volunteered as a 4-H leader.
In his free time Phil enjoyed woodworking, spending time at his lake house, going to the casino, gardening and running his bobcat. On April 8, 1961, he married Sandra Bueche who passed away in 1987. On June 17, 2000, he married Sharon Kaylor who passed away in 2022.
Surviving are his daughter, Terri (Denny) Ricketson; bonus children, Shannon Jones, Rickie (Meghan) Jones, Sharon “Sis” (Michael) White and Joseph (Stacy) Jones; daughter-in-law, Melinda Glass; grandchildren, Ryan (Megan), Staci (Nathan), Troy (Elizabeth), Tori (Jesse), Christian, Joey, Emilee, Jacob, Skyler, Hailey, Ella, Jayce, Molly, Solemn, London, Madalynn, Kaylor and Liam; great-grandchildren, Easton, Colton, Jaxson, Carson and Shealynn; sister, Shirley (John) Kelley; brother and sisters-in-law, Sharon Cook, Doug (Sally) Kaylor, Florence (Dan) VanDyk and Jamie (Ed) Madlinski along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives and children, Dawn Glass and Phillip Glass Jr.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
A celebration of Phil’s life will be held from 1-4 PM, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Gun Plain Township Hall.
Contributions in memory of Phil may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
