Mylan “Mike” Houseman passed away Thursday night, May 20, 2021, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Mike was born February 11, 1931 in Three Rivers, Michigan , son of William and Florence (Miller) Houseman. He served his country in the United States Air Force.
On August 21, 1954 he married Rose Ison in Angola, Indiana, she preceded him in death in 1998. Mike retired from the Plainwell School System. He enjoyed traveling, collecting lighthouses, singing, and watching sports, always rooting for Michigan teams. He liked days when the fish were biting. Mike was a Christian and enjoyed the companionship of friends during bible study.
Survivors include his children, Debra Pigeon of Wayland, Patricia (Art) Pigeon of Otsego and Mylan Matthew (Sharon) Houseman of Portage, 6 grandchildren, Jenna, Samuel, Michelle, Matthew, Joshua and Hannah; great grandchildren, Aurora, Marc Jr, Ryden and Keegan and sisters, Thelma of Kalamazoo and Betty Jean of Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego with the Reverend David Alderman officiating. Burial will follow at East Martin Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

I love you Grandpa! I know you are with Grandma and the Lord and how glorious that must be for you! You told me all the time how you could not wait to see Grandma again. I’ll always cherish the time we were given together. ❤️

Uncle Mike…..You are in Heaven now, And I Know this to be True…Over the years when I have Visited Michigan, and Talked to you over the Phone You Talked about the Lord Jesus Christ, So in my Heart I Know you are there with my Aunt Rose Together Again. !! For Those who don’t Know about myself I will say that my Sister Kathy and I lost our Mom and Dad at a Very Early Age….. I have spent a lots of Days and Nights at Uncle Mike and Aunt Rose’s Home. We our Family.!! Some Memories of Uncle Mike :: I Remember when you lived on West River Street, Uncle Mike would be in the Kitchen Smashing Potatoes. He made the Best Mashed Potatoes with Butter.!! Also Uncle Mike would take Deb, Pat, Matt, and Myself to ….I think its ( Brookside Park ) ?? in Otsego…Monday through Friday We would Hang out and Play until it was time to get Aunt Rose…at Parker Hannifin..!! Until we Meet again We Love you.!!!
