Mike went home to the Lord, Monday, December 27, 2021 in Kalamazoo.
He was born December 10, 1953 in Grand Rapids, the son of Clarence Hughes and Connie (Jansen) Beardsley. Mike worked for a printing company and at Pharmacia for many years. In his free time he enjoyed researching coins, attending NASCAR races, target shooting, traveling with his wife and researching his ancestry. Mike was happiest when surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. On March 25, 1971 in Allegan, he married the love of his life, Linda Uminn, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Michael Jr. (fiancée, Annie Rhodes) Hughes of Sturgis, Stephanie (Chris) Pieratt of Martin and Matthew (Kara) Hughes of Kalamazoo; he was the best Poppie to Caroline, Abigail, Madelyn, Fletcher, Lydia, Wyatt and Beau; siblings, Rick, Ken, David and Todd along with many nieces and nephews.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
Friends may visit with Mike’s family starting at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 3, 2022 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., with Celebrant Bill Rose officiating.

I have been away for some time and now that things have returned to normal, the reality of Mike being gone has hit. Even though I didn’t see Mike much lately, I miss him. His razor sharp wit and sense of humor are 2 things we very much need during these times. He was a great friend and one of the best teammates anyone could ask for. I’m sorry this happened and wish the best for Linda and Mike’s entire family.
