Michael Czuk

On Wednesday, October 24, 2012, on vacation in Portland, Oregon, Mike Czuk joined his Lord and Savior in heaven. Mike was a sinner, though saved by grace and redeemed to proudly carry the love of God to all he met. He was energetic, enthusiastic, and an incredibly hard worker. He tackled all of his endeavors with pride: as a paperboy on the streets of Kalamazoo at age 9, as a U.S. Marine, as a tool and die maker for General Motors, as a beloved husband and father, and most of all, as a passionate Christ follower. Rarely seeking a moment to rest, his activities were numerous. Mike loved to hunt, fish, and volunteer at church. Most of all, however, he enjoyed investing in the lives of those he brushed up against. He enjoyed providing charity to the broken and needy of surrounding cities (Plainwell, Otsego, and Kalamazoo). He arduously loved his children and grandchildren. Their greatest fan, he cheered for them all with fervor through their sports, activities, and life events without fail. His presence, his voice calling from the bleachers of the lives of each of those who were blessed to experience his love, will be ever-present in our minds, our hearts, and our souls. Mike was born in Kalamazoo on February 5, 1942, of Walter and Dorothy (Wiedmayer) Czuk. On October 21, 1967, in Doster he married Barbara Bourdo, whom he loved deeply and provided for in every way possible. The couple settled near Plainwell, Michigan and invested with their whole heart into the lives of their three children.

Remaining to carry on his legacy are: his wife

Barbara

Czuk; daughter

Melissa

and Jeff Henckel of Kalamazoo, son

Timothy

and Anna Czuk of Portland, OR and

daughter

Renae

and Josh Kane of Macomb; 7 grandchildren, including: Carson & Cayden Henckel, Eliana, Kaspar & Acacia Czuk, and Ella & Emmett Kane; his siblings, Eric Czuk of Kalamazoo and Paul (Diane) Czuk of Vicksburg; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Bourdo “Queen of” Orangeville, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. His parents, Dorothy Moore and Walter Czuk, preceded him in death.

Friends may meet with his family from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the

Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego

. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, at the

Calvary Bible Church

with Pastor John Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Ever-Rest North.

Contributions in memory of Mike may be made to Calvary Bible Church missions, Otsego Baptist Church or

Youth for Christ

.

His life verse was Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (NIV).

Thank you, Dad, for inspiring us to live our lives more beautifully and for giving us a taste of heaven on earth.

I’m sorry to say I didn’t know Mike, but I know people who did and I’ve heard many beautiful testimonies of his wonderful love for our Saviour. May the love and peace of God be yours now and always.

Dear Barb and Family,

Our hearts and prayers are with you in this bittersweet moment. You and Mike have been very kind to Helene and I over the years and we cherish your Christ loving friendship. We will miss Mike very much, the honk of the horn or the heart felt waves as we drove by the house or the meeting at the Meijer store while shopping.. May God continue to bless you and comfort you, knowing that we will see Mike again in Glory.

Your Brother and Sister In Christ Jesus,

Jim and Helene Lenfield

My sincerest condolences to the Czuk family on their loss.

Mr Czuk was my first ever little league baseball coach and I will always remember how much fun he made the seasons from open practice to the end of the season pool party.

As an eight year old kid, you dont really understand what kind of person it takes to be willing to give your time, energy and attention to helping steer a bunch of strange kids in in the right direction,. I’m glad Mr. Czuk was someone like that.

To Barb and family,

So sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I stopped to see Dorothy in Orangeville when up in Michigan and heard Mike had been trying to recover from a stroke. I know that was a difficult time for him and the family. May you take comfort in knowing he does not have to struggle any longer. Your family has always been special to our family during the years we lived in Orangeville and the many years since we left. Sending warm thoughts your way.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Crystal and I have many pleasant memories made possible by Mike–swimming in the pool, skating on the old chicken-coop concrete, playing in the tree house.

Our thoughts are with you.

Barb and Family.

Sue and I just found out about Mike’s Homegoing.

We are so blessed to have known him. We will be keeping you and your family in our prayers and know what a difficult time this is for your all. It was a true joy knowing Mike.

We know that he is now in the presence of Jesus with no pain or suffering, and with all those friends and family that have gone before. I thank God for having the oppertunity to call Mike a friend.

May the Lord bless and keep you.

Barb, it was a real blessing that God allowed us to meet while shopping in Kalmazoo several weeks ago. We will always remember that visit and how Mike said that after hearing about my

Scleroderma it appeared that God had the 2 of us racing to see who could get to Heaven first, well he was always competetive and he won and we will surley miss him and keep you and the entire family in our prayers.

Barb, and family,

I just learned of Mike’s meeting with The Lord . I know all of you miss him much! I have wonderful memories of Mike from Otsego Baptist during my childhood. He surely was a man of God and was not afraid to tell the world ! I will always remember him fondly , and his devotion to our Savior.

Barb thank you for all you did for my dear aunt and uncle. Norma was so happy to have you to talk to. Much love to you !

It is unbelievable that I started thinking about Mike approximately 2 weeks ago and he had been on my mind when I mentioned him to a co-worker. He told me what happened. I am so very sorry for your loss. He was a good man to work with. I worked with him first when I graduated my apprenticeship in steel stores in Grand Rapids. He was knowledgeable and a good teacher. After 2 weeks he told me “Well then, I’ve taught you everything I know , now I’m taking 2 weeks vacation to go hunting!” I was in a panic but he said I would do fine and I did. He sat down and prayed with me when my husband and I miscarried (I was 47 and the doctors said it was twins or triplets). Even though we lose touch with our friends from work, we never forget them. He will always have a special place in our hearts.
