Michael G. Blowers

Mike passed away peacefully at his home in Delton on December 11, 2024, at the age of 78.

Born on May 30, 1946, in Kalamazoo to Virgil and Catherine (Roseboom) Blowers, Mike’s journey through life was marked by a profound curiosity and a dedication to his craft. A proud graduate of Otsego High School in 1964, Mike pursued higher education at Santa Clara University in San Jose, California, before earning his BS in electrical engineering from Western Michigan University.

He worked at General Electric and continued at Parker ABEX National Water Lift, where he solidified his expertise with a PE license. In recent years, he engaged in consulting work across West Michigan and Ohio, further showcasing his commitment to innovation and engineering excellence. Mike was not only dedicated to his career but also deeply passionate about learning and exploration. He held an enduring love for math and science, particularly the wonders of outer space.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing the guitar, starting gardens, fishing, and cutting wood. He found great satisfaction in maintaining his property and valued hard work in all its forms. As a proud Mayflower descendant, Mike took pride in his heritage and was a valued member of his community. He is remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the love and support he provided to his family, especially his grandchildren who he was very proud of. In 1966 at Otsego Church of God, he married Coleen Smith who survives.

Also surviving are his children: Peter (Dawn) Blowers of Otsego and Melissa (Matthew) Beach of Kalamazoo; grandchildren: Jonathon (Hannah) Blowers, Rebecca (John) Minser, Thomas (Tehya) Blowers, Benjamin Beach, Ellen Beach, and Harrison Beach; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Catherine Minser along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Theresa Hammond and Virginia Benoit, and his brother Norman Blowers.
