Merle J. “Jim” Clark passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born December 6, 1939 in Kalamazoo, the son of Merle and Mary (Renbarger) Clark. Jim lived in Alaska before returning to the area when his health began to decline. Jim loved motorcycles and enjoyed cooking for the American Legion and the VFW. He was a member of the N.R.A. and the Otsego Moose Lodge. Surviving are his children, James (Debra) Clark of Anchorage, AK, Kimberley (Victor) Olson of Minnesota, Susan (Steven) Clark –Pillars of Otsego and Cathy Penny of Kalamazoo; his siblings, Mary L. Clark, Thomas Clark and Nancy (Roger) Kortokrax; nine grandchildren; Angela Penny, Thomas Woodruff Jr., Nicole (William) Brumley, Madison Pillars, Victoria Olson, Jesse Porter, Ashley (Guillermo) Morales, Jennifer Eggleton and Teresa (Raul) Balboa; eight great-grandchildren and one nephew, Jason (Amy) Bos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul; his grandson, Joshua Pillars in 2008 and son-in-law Mike Penny.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at Alamo Center Cemetery at a later date.
