Melissa M. Wooten

Melissa passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 6, 2016.

She was born March 17, 1982 in Plainwell to Steven and Charleen (Blanton) Wooten. Melissa was a Plainwell High School graduate and had attended Western, Grand Valley, and KVCC and was close to completing her degree. She enjoyed volunteering at many area nursing homes, loved shopping, going out to restaurants and most of all, spending time with her daughters.

Surviving are her children, Ellyna Mae Ellis and Isabella Mae Wooten; her parents; brother, Steven (Ashley) Wooten; 2 nieces; sister, Kourtney (David) Senters; grandparents, Joyce (Roy) Ellison and William (Judy) Wooten; many aunts, uncles, cousins and her friend, Sherry Morrison.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dollie and D. Dennis Blanton; aunts, Mae Hicks, Freda Tammell and Betty Watson; uncles, Mac Arthur, Dee Blanton, Ernest Dyer and Sammy Blanton; cousins, McKenzie Mills and Kenny Hicks.

Friends may visit with Melissa’s family from 6-8PM on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 11, 2016.

Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Plainwell.

Contributions in memory of Melissa may be made to her daughters, Ellyna Mae and Isabella Mae.

I am so heart broken. I always loved Missy. We just spoke the other day. I’m so glad we said kind words to each other and said I love you. She will be missed by so many. I will be steady praying for your family and especially her beautiful little girls❤️

I knew Missy from school. I was a grade behind her but I remember her sticking up for me when I was a freshman in Science class. She was always so kind. May God be with you and your family at this difficult time. I will be praying.

Our heart is aching for our little granddaughter, Kyleigh, who has come to know Missy in the past few months. Death is always difficult to explain to a child and no one ever wants their precious little one to have to deal with such grownup issues. We are praying for courage and strength for Missy’s family as they go through this challenging time. We believe that Missy is in Heaven and smiling down on her own little daughters, as well as our Kyleigh and her Mommy and Steven, during this sadness. We are encouraging Ky to remember the fun times at the pool and to be strong for her special friend, little Bella. Prayers and comfort to all. Kyleigh’s Daddy, G’ma and G’pa.

I just saw Melissa at the Otsego Library not more than ten days ago. We looked at each other both knowing that we were somehow connected. I worked with students in Mrs. Lee’s 4th grade classroom at Starr Elementary. Missy and I shared our memories of her time in grade school, laughed, and hugged. I am so shocked and saddened that she is gone from this earth. What a beautiful young woman, inside and out. There are no words that can explain the loss and grief her mom and dad are feeling. None. And her precious daughters – my heart bleeds for them. Holding all the Wootens close to my heart and raising them up in prayer.

i love working with Melissa she was a woundful women she never give up i went to her wedding at the comfort inn for receptection

I will miss her .i was talking to her at the doctor office
