Marian Sandahl

Marian A. Sandahl of Allegan, Michigan died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at her home. Mrs. Sandahl was born December 6, 1923 in Allegan to Harvey and Margaret Dunfield and was a lifelong resident of the area.

During WWII she served in the Nurse Corps in the U.S. Navy. In 1947 Marian graduated from Nazareth College earning her R.N. degree. She was employed with Borgess Medical Center and Allegan General Hospital and then as the school nurse at Otsego High School. In her leisure time she enjoyed flower gardening, reading, bird watching, cooking and baking.

On October 5, 1947 in Grand Rapids she married

Wilfred Sandahl

who died in 2007. Also preceding her in death were an infant sister and her brother, Allen Dunfield.

Surviving are her children, Jim (Gail) Sandahl of Allegan, Sue (Richard) Andrews of Winter Haven, FL, Charles (Trinka) Sandahl of Missouri City, TX, Joseph Sandahl of Allegan, Edward Sandahl of Plainwell and Richard Sandahl of Allegan; 8 grandchildren, Kathy, James, Julie, Todd, Sarah, Christopher, Shawn and Justin; 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit with Marian’s family beginning at 12:00 Noon on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the

Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego

, where a Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Rodney Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Allegan.

Contributions in memory of Marian may be made to the

or the

American Red Cross
