Margaret Rogers of Otsego, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2006 in Plainwell, the last surviving sibling of her family. Margaret was born February 16, 1913 in Kalamazoo to James and Cecilia (Hayden) Johnson. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1929 and attended Western Teachers Normal School. Margaret was a member of Eastern Star #169, Queen Esther, the First Congregational Church of Otsego and the Ladies Guild. She served as Sunday School Superintendent and as a teacher. She enjoyed reading and traveling, especially to Alaska and Israel. On June 30, 1934 in Otsego she married William “Al” Rogers who preceded her in death in1973. Surviving are a daughter, Faith Burleigh of Otsego and a son William “Bill” (Betty) Rogers Jr. of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Babette) Burleigh, Roger Burleigh, Andrea (Carl) Hallett, Laurie St. Clair and Todd Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren, a nephew and several nieces. Also preceding her in death were her siblings Ellsworth, James, Juanita and Alice and a son-in-law Alva Burleigh. Friends may meet the family from 7-9 P.M. Wednesday at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Otsego with Pastor Don Ray officiating. Cremation will follow. Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Otsego or the Otsego District Public Library.
