Sorry for your loss,. I knew your family growing up as teenagers. My mom was good friends with your mom. Your mom made delicious home made bread.

I’m so sorry that Leroy is not with us anymore, however, I know he’s on a journey to whatever our Creator has planned for him. He will be missed, as all of our years as cousins, I knew him to always be kind and smiling.

Hope to meet up with him again when It’s my turn to make that journey.

Blanche and family,

As you know Leroy and I were friends for many, many years. We shared many fun and crazy times. I typically talked with him every week on the phone, which now seems like a big hole. Although we grieve for his loss we know that he is not suffering anymore and is at peace. He will be missed and not forgotten. Peace to all of you and all of your family.

Lee was a good friend to me and to many classmates at Otsego schools. He was on the basketball team from 7th grade through his sophomore year and was on the baseball team all four years in high school. When his friends came through his line at The Satellite, they seemed to get an extra patty on their burger. Lee was easy to spot on the road with his bright orange 442 that he had bought from Roger Bloom. Lee was always happy and joked a lot, even into his years with MS, which he contracted at age 43. As an avid Cubs fan, his baseball card collection numbered in the thousands, and he amassed over two thousand cards of just Ryne Sandberg, his favorite player,. My sympathies to his sister Blanche and the rest of Lee’s family & friends.

I don’t know if it is too late to leave a message but i used to work with Leroy at Essex back in the early 70’s and I knew that he left due to medical reasons but at that time I didn’t really know why or anything about MS and I can’t remember what year he left but I always thought Leroy was such a nice guy who always had the coolest cars but it seems like the ones I remember is the car Jim mentioned above and the convertible corvette he drove with pride. I never saw Leroy again after he left Essex but have thought of him off and on thru the years and wondered whatever happened to him. So over these last few months for some reason Leroy has run across my mind but I couldn’t remember his last name. So I had saw his obituary in the Shoppers Guide but didn’t recognize his last name so did not think that that was him so fast forward to today, I was going through newspapers that people have saved for me so before I use them for the wood stove i always go through the obituaries, so today I ran across Leroy’s obituary and his last name rang a bell so I reached out to a former coworker to see if this was the same Leroy we used to work with and she confirmed this sad news but they didn’t know either until this obituary so we are saddened by this news. I feel sad that we had lost touch with Leroy but back in that day we didn’t really have a good way but I will never forget Leroy and pray for his peace now. R.I.P. Leroy I know your journey was not an easy one! Marilyn Abernathy
