Kenneth D. Opperman

Kenneth D. Opperman of Otsego, formerly of Kalamazoo, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2006 in Kalamazoo. Mr. Opperman was born June 28, 1932 in Hopkins to John and Hulda (Schafer) Opperman and was a lifelong resident of the area. For many years he had been employed with Eaton Mfg. (Fuller Transmission) and retired from Ronningen-Petter. Ken was a faithful member of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church of Otsego. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing pinochle. He was loved by all his nieces and nephews. On April 17, 1971 in Parchment he was married to

Leonora ‘Lee’ Puschel

, who survives. Also surviving are a brother, John Opperman of Wayland; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Duane Opperman; a sister, Marie Petersen; a niece, Linda; and a nephew, Jeffrey. His brother Donald Opperman died the day after Ken. Friends may meet the family from 2 to 4 P.M. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark D. Gieschen officiating. Burial will follow at West Cooper Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Ken may be made to the Peace Lutheran School Building Fund or the American Cancer Society or the charity of choice.
