Kay passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at her home in Plainwell.
She was born December 24, 1938 in Henry, South Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Genevieve (Cosgrove) Davis. Kay was a 1956 Plainwell High School graduate and attended Kalamazoo Practical Nurse Center where she received her LPN license. On September 14, 1957 at the Plainwell United Methodist Church, she married Ronald Jenkins, her childhood friend who walked her to her first day of Kindergarten.
She worked at Pipp Hospital and the “Clinic” in Plainwell until retirement. After retiring, she continued to work at various jobs in Kalamazoo, but Kay’s real work was for the Lord. She had a steadfast faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and it was woven into everything she did. By the grace of God, she was able to maintain strong relationships with neighbors, friends and family.
As a mom, she always had room on the calendar to watch grandkids or go to one of their events. She absolutely loved reading, singing, listening to music and attending musical theater and concerts. She also loved her dolls, one of which she was holding on her last day.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Donna Lou Davis and Jeanine Boulter-Lindeman.
Kay will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ron Jenkins; children, Jeffrey (Julia) Jenkins, Dawn (Brian) Roblyer, and Susan (Nathan) Steffen; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fred Davis, Don (Donna) Davis, and Joanne Davis along with many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with Kay’s family starting at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Plainwell until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor George Osborn officiating.
Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell.
Contributions in memory of Kay may be made to the First Baptist Church of Plainwell.

Oh I am so very sorry to read this. Kay was such a sweetheart! Always pleasant, gentle and kind. Knew her starting at Pipp Community Hospital, thru working at the doctors’ Clinic next door, and working in the eye doctors office in Kalamazoo. How endearing to read that Ron walked her to her first day in Kindergarten! I never knew that! They were meant to be a couple! What a loss for her family, Kay was a gem! My heart goes out to you! Hugs and prayers.

Kay was my classmate. She and I were class officers. She was secretary and I was vice-president of the Plainwell High School class of 1956. Because our class president lived out of town, Kay and I planned our class reunions. We worked well together. She and her husband, Ron, kept excellent records of information about our classmates. At our reunions we would have a time that we called “roll call”. Kay would go down the list and give us an update on each of our classmates. Chris Madden and I have inherited that information and the task of keeping it updated. I already miss this dear lovely lady. God doesn’t make them any better than Kay. God’s peace and comfort to Ron and the rest of the family.

Ron and Family – I was so sorry to get the phone call on Sunday morning about Kay. She was a very special person and
friend. She was such a wonderful person to be around.. Even though we shared the same birthday and was born the same year. I use to tease her about being much older than I was (4 fours older). She was always there for you when you needed someone. Thinking of you.

Kay was a beautiful lady full of gentleness and kindness. I remember the first time I met her and found out she and Ron were life-long friends with my husband’s family. I thought she was so sweet and set a wonderful Christian example to me as a woman of God. I don’t take that for granted and I praise God that she is with him, worshipping her Savior.
My prayers are for Ron and his family to find comfort and peace in knowing this.
