Karen S. Smith age 73 passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Wings Home in Allegan.
She was born September 10, 1942 in Plainwell, the daughter of Wilbur and Ruby (Livingston) Allen. For many years Karen had done payroll for the Michigan Cottage Cheese Factory before going to work in the finance department for the Big Top Market until her retirement in 2011.Karen was a member of the First Congregational Church of Otsego and had been a scout leader when her sons were younger. In her spare time Karen enjoyed golfing, gardening, cooking and most of all she loved watching her children and grandchildren at all of their sporting events. On May 6, 1961 at the Otsego United Methodist Church she married Archie Smith who passed away in April 2015.
Surviving are her children, Rick (Kim) Smith of Orangeville, Randy (April) Smith and Gary Smith both of Plainwell; 8 grandchildren, Sydney, Taylor, Tyler, Jay, Mekala, Jordan, Elle and Connor and great-grandson, Aubrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Dick Allen.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place.
Friends may visit with Karen’s family Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 2-5 P.M. at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego.
A memorial service will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Otsego with Pastor Darin Youngs officiating.

I worked with your mother at bigtop and enjoyed all the time we shared working together. She always greated me with a pleasant greeting and we just felt comfortable working together she made it pleasant and I will always remember her, May the Lord give you all peace.
