Kal C. Lovett

Otsego

Kal C. Lovett,  born on August 27, 1956, in Plainwell, Michigan, peacefully passed away at his home in Otsego on March 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Kal was the son of David and Starr (Chrisman) Lovett. A graduate of Otsego High School in 1974, Kal continued his education at Michigan Tech, where he laid the foundation for a successful career. For 25 years, he owned and operated Lovett Well Drilling, a business he dedicated himself to until his retirement in 2012.

Kal married his beloved wife, Ronda (Hofacker), in Jamaica in 1997. Together, they built a life enriched by familial bonds and joyful memories. Kal was a devoted father to his children: Sean (Meg Pugh) Lovett of Colorado, Carmen (Alex) Hoover of Otsego, Ritchey Ray of Florida, Raegan (Jamie) Rhoderick of Paw Paw, and Renae Sweet of Pullman. He relished the role of "Papa," treasuring each moment spent with his grandchildren, Aden, Ocean, Dylan, Nolan, Liam, Madison, and Ritchey.

The joyful laughter shared during playful afternoons of baseball in the yard and splashes in the pool are memories that will remain in the hearts of those he loved. Beyond the warmth of family life, Kal found joy in the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, especially with his nephew Damion, fishing and hunting for mushrooms.

Also surviving are his brothers, Lane (Mary) Lovett, Brad Lovett, and Cole Lovett, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dana, father, David and mother, Starr Gillespie.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place.
