I am so sorry to learn of John’s passing. He was one of the nicest, gentle people that I have had the pleasure to know. I did not know he was ill, but I was thinking about him recently. May he Rest In Peace. And May all of you in the family be comforted by your loving memories of him.

What a loss. And not so long ago, we lost John’s younger brother Chuck. Linda and I have known them for the past decade or so as active fellow Democrats. Both so smart and knowledgeable of public policy and political issues. When they spoke you knew that you were going to hear carefully reasoned and factual information; and so considerate and understated. As others have noted, John demonstrated how to be so kind, without a hint of bravado or self importance.

John walked around our yard years ago and named each of the trees, and pointed out several patches of poison ivy. He also came to pick up scrap metal, which he sold and donated the monies. The untimely passing of each of them has been a shock and a reminder to make the best of each day.
