Jerry Zugel
Jerry F. Zugel of Vicksburg, Michigan passed away suddenly Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at his residence. Jerry was born May 16, 1943 in Gary, IN to Frank and Georgia (Gilleo) Zugel. Following high school he served his country in the U.S. Army. For about 10 years he worked as a butcher at Kroger in Indiana and then moved to the Kalamazoo area in the mid-1960s and continued his employment with Kroger. He then worked as a meat cutter for Eckridge for over 15 years and most recently was employed with Bowers Manufacturing Co. in Kalamazoo for around 10 years. In his leisure time he enjoyed cutting wood, playing with his grandkids on the dirt bike and gator, fishing, feeding fish and watching his grandkids fish and puttering in his barn.
Surviving are a son and a daughter, Jerry Zugel, Jr. of Gobles and Cheryl (Bob) Heckman of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, April and Zach; his fiancée, Linda Granada of Vicksburg; step-children, William (Linda) Roe of OK, Mark (Mary) Roe of Pinconning, Steve (Cindy) Roe of Galesburg and Pam (Terry) Roe-Vanderberg of Diamondale; close step-grandchildren, Kelli, Allison and Kevin; siblings, Marge (Ralph) Ehresman of MN and Denny (Dot) Zugel of Allegan; his first wife, Nancy Reddick, to whom he was married for 18 years; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and in 2007 by his second wife, Janice Zugel, whom he married February 14, 1986.
Friends may visit with Jerry’s family from 3 to 5 P.M. Sunday at the
Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego
, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, Pastor Jeff Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
Contributions in memory of Jerry may be made to the
C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital
in Ann Arbor or the
Alzheimer’s Association
.

Jerry was a blessing to this world there are few people whom would be willing to give the shirt off there back to some one whom is in need and Jerry was just such a man,loved by many he will be missed for so many different reasons,R.I.P my friend,my sincere condolences to all his family may God grant you the peace of heart in this time of sadness.

Jerry Zugel has been our friend for over 10 years when Jerry and Jan moved down the road connecting the back ends of our properties.
Jerry was a great example of a great Christian Friend, even though he had person pain and stress he still was always willing to help.
Hey! just let me know he would say and was willing to help in anyway he could.
When Shirley was in the hospital Jerry was the candy man giving us a large bag of candy to give to the Nursing staff.
One phrase that Jerry used was I have baked, when he would drop off a treat from Sam’s club. The latest was after Shirley’s Hospital
stay this summer.
Jerry had a home made Deer feeder that we liked, so in a short time he was at our place installing one for us to enjoy.
When we went to Florida for a few weeks Jerry kept track of our house, letting us know when our security light was not on and
the electrical power was out.
If you thought that you could out do Jerry in good deeds you had to think again, that was not possible. If you tried you just got
further behind.
With Shirley and my health condition at the present time we are unable to express our condolences in person, this letter we
hope will convey our love and appreciation to Linda and the Family.

I remember the summer nights as a kid spending time in the backyard catching lightening bugs with Cheryl and Jerry Jr. Uncle Jerry used to get us jars and poke holes in the lids so we could keep them alive for as long as possible.
Your time with us has been cut much too short, as I know that there were many more good times to be had…
May you rest in peace Uncle Jerry. You will be greatly missed!
