Jerry Blood

Jerry Lee Blood of Plainwell, Michigan, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Wings Home in Allegan. Mr. Blood was born May 30, 1944 in Allegan to Clyde and Maida (VanOrder) Blood and was a lifelong resident of the area.

For 20 years, until his retirement in 2003, he was employed with InterKal in Portage. Previously he had also held various jobs including forklift driver, semi-truck driver, welder, factory worker and delivery of farming supplies. In his leisure time he liked NASCAR, including Truck, Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series. His favorite drivers included Johnny Benson and Carl Edwards. The dog “Lady” was his dog, and his pride and joy, to take outside and to watch TV with, in his recliner. He enjoyed Lawrence Welk reruns. Jerry loved to do Word Find puzzles, listen to the radio, feed the birds and play handheld games. He loved fishing with his dad, camping with family and friends, and fish fries.

On July 24, 1965 in Allegan he married Jerri Sue Blakeman, who died June 23, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are a son and a daughter, Ken Blood of Byron Center and Christine ‘Crissy’ Blood of Kalamazoo; and a brother, Jim Craig (Kitty) Blood of Holland; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service at the Otsego Church of God will be announced later.
